IU Chief Information Officer & IU-Bloomington Dean of IT

As CIO for Indiana University, I provide overall leadership for University Information Technology Services with a focus on strategic and priority initiatives. This is supported by an excellent senior leadership team. I also work on a number of grant-funded, Open Source development projects that demonstrate new economics for inter-institutional partnerships. For more information see the Sakai Project, The Open Source Portfolio, Kuali Projects, and various publications (IT Strategy, IP & Support).

Information technology - particularly digital networks - is the transforming force of the 21st century. As a faculty member, my research, MBA teaching, and university administrative responsibilities focus on understanding and leading in the use of digital networks. In particular, the Net-enabled Business Innovation Cycle examines how executives purposefully configure their organizations to identify, execute, and measure customer value created through digital networks. In recent years this model has provided the basis of dozens of executive programs with senior business leaders in 26 countries on six continents.
